Additional Programme
International trips
During the camp you have the opportunity to go and explore Finnish nature and history beyond the camp area. Two separate trips will be arranged: one to Päijänne national park, to Kelvenne-island, on the M/S Elbatar cruiser, and another to Hämeenlinna's museums and Aulanko park area. Both trips are day trips, that is we depart after breakfast and return by dinner.
On the Kelvene island you can explore the island on a track going around the island, spend time on the sandy beach and play great outdoors games in the splendid hogback scenery.
In Hämeenlinna you can go adventuring in a mediaeval castle, learn about Finnish war history in artillery museum and peek behind the bars in a detention museum. In addition to museums you can enjoy the peace and great views in Aulanko park.
You will be able to register to join in on one of these trips once on the camp. The fee, about 25€, should be paid in cash when you register. Trips are on Monday 2nd August and Tuesday 3rd August.
Friendship badge
Friendship badge is a great way to get to know campers from different countries, to learn about foreign cultures and enjoy our international atmosphere. Anyone, a camper or on duty adult, can accomplish the merits required at any time, and then wear the badge attached to his Kilke t-shirt.
Sauna evening
Finland is well know for its saunas, but how did the sauna culture begin? Why is sauna a holy places for Finns? What sort of traditions are related to saunas? And foremost, dare you try what it is like in a sauna?
International evening
What would your camp fire be like? This international night offers the opportunity to perform and share best of your camp fire games and songs.
We are expecting every team to prepare some program for their sub camp international evening. International evening is a workshop like event where each international group can present the program they planned and other campers may circulate from one program site to another. The evening will last 2 hours and individual program site should last 5-15 minutes.
Examples:
- Traditional food - a group of four to five people will prepare some traditional scout food from their home country.
- Music - Group of two people performs some traditional camp fire songs. One of the group members sings while the other one plays guiter.
- Photo show - One person presents scouting related photos and other material. Optionally a video projector may be used.
