Skiing and communication
Written on 25.01.2010 klo 01:15
Today was an excellent weather for skiing, -16 Celsius degrees, no wind, a thin layer of new snow and almost a sunny day. I waxed my skis and went out for a short skiing trip.
I am a newbie on skiing. I bought my skis last year, and those are the first skis I own since secondary school. And to my shame I have to admit that I had totally forgotten how to use those things. I was like a bambi on ice when I put my skis on for first time in ten years. Put since that I've been practising, reading about techniques, practising more, reading about ski waxing, practising more, trying different things, and so on. And now I can enjoy skiing again. Internet and library have been good friends for self-learner like me.
It was communication that played a major role on my happy return to skiing tracks. Many experienced skiers had written a lot's of excellent instructions and hints that I eagerly adopted into my knowledge. Now its a similar situation with us - between the Kilke makers and the scouts joining Kilke. We each have our experience on the part of Kilke we are working with and we want to deliver that information to everyone that needs it.
Today we have quite a versatile communication tools available. We use the Kilke website to store all the important information spiced up with some "nice to know" -stories. It is available for almost everyone and easy to use. To ensure that more important messages reaches you we add it to our newletter or use traditional snailmail. And of course, when something is absolutely crucial we contact you personally. There should be something to every communication flavour.
In addition to just delivering information we also want to courage others to be active on communication. We recently added Troopster to Kilke website. It is a tool for you to befriend with a finnish troop. If you already haven't done it, leave a profile there or check if there are suitable finnish troops to contact with. Local friends will double your fun of planning Kilke. You can also write a story to you local newspaper of your oncoming Kilke experience. We are happy to help you with material. So let's start communicating, maybe some other people will learn something too...
See you at Kilke!
