Information about Evo and the camp site

Jamborees in Finland have been held in various places around the country, mostly rented or on loan from Military, Church and local municipalities. Now, for the first time in Finnish scouting history, scouts are able to gather in the thousands in a camping centre designed for Jamborees and troop level summer camps alike. The Evo Camping Center for Youth, a joint operation of the Scouts of Finland, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and HAMK University of Applied Sciences.
The idea now is to build up a permanent youth camping center where troops, districts and other youth organization can easily arrange their own camps. Few permanent buildings, water pipes and a well will be build to ease the maintenance of Kilke and other future camps. Some images of the camp site can be found at image gallery.
Evo is one of the largest continuous forested areas in the southern Finland. Evo area consists of the state-owned Hiking Area, which was established in 1994, and of nature reserves, a teaching forest of HAMK University of Applied Sciences, Evo, and the recreational forest of the town of Hämeenlinna. The Evo forest institure was established in 1862 and is the oldest forestry school in Finland. Today the foresty education in Evo organized by Häme Vocational Institute and HAMK university of Applied Sciences. More information can be found at www.hami-edu.fi and www.hamk.fi.
